OFF!C!AL V!DEO: CRES & !LLMIND “STOP ME” feat. SKYZOO

Hopefully you tuned into the 5/17 show if not, check it out here. It might have been all over the place but we had fun with BLAPorCRAP this time around. Like M31RK said, he would find a sample to flip for this week’s segment. Let’s see who has the best flip!

There’s not too many rules on this one except all submissions must use the sample. You can use whatever drums you want! (Buy a BLAP Kit if you don’t have dope drums)

Submit the flip to BLAPOnTheRadio@gmail.com
Subject: Shanti BLAP Or CRAP

Make sure your beat is labeled properly
ie: Producer Name - Beat Title

This isn’t a contest but you know how we do; It’s going to be competitive anyway.

The sample was provided by
Shawn Bernardo of Vinyle Archéologie: Crate Digging & Break Excavation.
Really dope group on Facebook. Check them out!

Fridays 10PM-12AM EST
Ways to Tune In

The world of music production is one of the fastest growing in the industry. Still, there are very few outlets providing information on how to achieve a lucrative career as a producer. With 13 + years experience, !llmind (Produced records for Kanye West, 50 Cent, Eminem, Common, 2 Chainz, Scarface, Redman and Many More) has assembled a team to help fill that void. How do I get record placements? What is my favorite producer using in the studio? What is publishing and why is it important? What schools cater best to becoming a producer?

The life blood of the music industry is based on knowing the right people. BLAP On The Radio serves to not only answer those questions, but also to provide valuable insight from some of today’s most important power players (Artist Manager, Lawyers, Major Label A&R’s, Beat Brokers, and more)

Music producers rarely get the recognition they deserve. We’re here to analyze the various beat making techniques of some of our favorite producers. From J Dilla’s drum swing, to J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League’s lush musical arrangements, we plan to cover it all. Gear talk, cool production techniques, engineering tips, and bangin’ beats are some of the things you can look forward to with BLAP On The Radio.

Tune in Every Friday 10PM - 12AM on GIDRadio.com

5/17 BLAP On The Radio was a little short staffed since !llmind and Stoni were in Miami for the iStandard Beat Camp. Luckily the homie Quest stepped up to help out with the hosting duties along with the great engineerMatt Weiss from Philly. M31RK decided to do an extended live BLAPorCRAP segment. We had a lot of fun critiquing beats from the inbox and interacting with the listeners from the chat room. Had 2 Pranks calls in the process. At the end M31RK suggested we should have a BLAPorCRAP Sample flip for the 5/24 show. Let’s see who has the best sample chops and creativity.

Look out for the sample on our Twitter and Blogs to download the sample and submit.

5/10 10PM EST BLAP On The Radio will have special guest Mr. Lif on deck. He’s a vet in the MC game but tune in and find out what he has going on in the production world.

Mr. Lif was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts Lif brokeout with his Enters The Colossus EP (Def Jux 2000), establishing him as one of the most ambitious and forward-thinking MCs in the game. He further cemented this status with a string of acclaimed releases including the “Emergency Rations” (EP), “I Phantom” (LP), & Perceptionists project with Akrobatik.

Tired of clichés, a culture in crisis, and a floundering economy, Lif stands apart as a new breed of MC appealing to listeners tired of hearing about the trivialities of hyper-consumerism and egomania that have infested hip hop culture and society. Based on the strength of his releases and relentless live show, Lif has been featured by MTV, Rolling Stone, SPIN, The NY Times, Entertainment Weekly, and XXL among others.

5/3 10PM EST BLAP On The Radio will sit with the iStandard Producers CEOs and team. You’ve definitely heard about the movement or even been to one of their many showcases going on across the US. Now meet the team behind the whole iStandard movement and find out what Beat Camp is all about!

Since DJ Gen.Erik is no longer with us, we will have DJ Unkle Chip of The Elite Camp for the night. Make sure you tune in!

Since 2005, the word iStandard has become synonymous with the world of music production, and it’s easy to see why. Its founders’ vision was to create a platform in which the music producer could step out from behind the boards and display their talents to an audience conducive to enhancing their career. Over the past 8 years, iStandard has showcased thousands of fledgling producers in front of some of the biggest names in music at their live iStandard Producer Showcase in 25+ cities, the Beat Camp program in 4 cities at the SAE Institute, and to millions online via iStandardProducers.com. iStandard, as an entity, is as unique as the creative talents of the producers it represents. Thousands of trendy 18-35 year olds hoping to catch an earful of the next sound attend what can be deemed as lifestyle events, in US cities from New York to Los Angeles and everywhere in between. iStandard embodies powerful informational tools, both online via our exclusive interviews, daily news updates, and technology pieces, as well as live at the iStandard Producer Showcase and our exciting new Beat Camp program.

Unkle Chip

We are geeked to have Unkle Chip rock with us this Blapisode. He’s literally booked all the time but we got lucky this Friday. He’s definitely one of the most consistent DJ’s we go out to check for in NY. If you don’t know who he is, check him out at the More Than Enough Parties thrown at LPR every other Saturday and peep his mixes on his soundcloud.

Unkle Chip is hands down the most aesthetically inclined DJ we’ve listened to. On top of that, he’s a part of NY/NJ’s illest DJ Crew - The Elite Camp. His knowledge of overall music is shown in all of his sets. Unkle Chip bows down to no one and you end up changing your list of favorite songs in the process. Influential indeed by his very nature.
