On Saturday, June 2, 2012, Pilipino American Unity for Progress (UniPro) will host its second annual Multinational Forum for Pilipino Young Professionals, Students, and Youth, also known as the “UniPro Summit.” This year’s Summit will focus on the theme of the “Pilipino Renaissance.”
We define Renaissance as:
1. The awakening of the individual Pilipino’s earnest passions and aspirations. 2. The creation of a community that nurtures the individual Pilipino’s passions and aspirations. 3. The flourishing of the global Pilipino community, marked by the significant representation and success of Pilipinos, determined by the realization of our own potential.
We will feature amazing leaders from the community whose work promotes the culture, welfare, and progress of Pilipinos, particularly in the modern, digital age. You are invited to meet other young, passionate Pilipinos to meet, exchange ideas, and organize a global network to promote the idea of such a renaissance.

“Lot’s of great music made with this baby, but I have to let it go. The ONLY reason I am is because i’ve recently switched over to an AxiomPro, which i’m more comfortable using since I sequence in Protools. If you want a complete “all-in-one” controller, this MPK88 is for you. The fully functioning weighted keys (all 88 of them) are incredible and will give you that true feel. The drum pads are awesome and feel just like an MPC.” - !llmind
Monster Energy Drink & iStandard Present ‘Beast of The Beast’ Producer Finals Day 1 (Video 1 of 3)
Monster Energy Drink & iStandard Producers combined respective forces to summon the world’s most talented beat makers to Webster Hall in NYC for an invite only producer competition like no other entitled ‘Beast of The Beats’ 5. The producers were all previous winners of the world famous iStandard Producer Showcase, in which Monster Energy has supported year round in several cities across the U.S. Over the course of 3 days’ Beast of The Beats’ 5 consisted of intimate live interviews, Interactive panel discussions, a celebrity beat cypher, influence award presentations, and the finale which included 120 beats from 40 producers to crown one ‘Beast of The Beats’. Day 1 of iStandard’s ‘Beast of The Beast’ 5 event kicked off at the world famous Webster Hall in NYC with a live ‘Behind The Rhymes’ Interview w/ Jay-Z’s longtime engineer and overall expert sound technician, Young Guru. Interviewed by former ‘Editor and Chief’ of the now defunct Scratch Magazine Jerry Barrow. Guru spoke candidly on his experience and involvement in past projects with various artists, who he feels are some of the ‘next to watch’ producers coming up as well as some valuable advice for the crowd of young music lovers. Immediately following the interview were 2 incredibly informative producer panels. To cap the evening off, all the panelists rolled up their sleeves and broke out their laptops to bless the attendees with a celebrity beat cypher in which they played 3 tracks they produced that are familiar to the crowd as well as 3 new beats to show off and let the up and comers know they still have what it takes to compete.
Pt 2 will be released Monday May 14th and Pt 3 Friday May 18th.
“Wooing the Wooers (or seducing those who seduce us) has been our life’s mission but this does not simply mean fighting the powers that dominate our culture. Our minds are also wooers of themselves and as we grow, our hearts and souls slowly attempt to woo our brains awake.” - Smokey Robotic
This summer will be filled with Smoke, as the group prepares for the release of their new album, “Hurricane Dove.” For the next few months, Smokey Robotic will release selected songs to give the wooers of the world a deep look into themselves.
Video animation for “Woo the Wooers” was produced by visual artist, Rachael Freedman (also worked on “SR” and “HotBrass”), part of the Smokey Robotic art collective extended family.
